The habit that has improved my life the most is three 40 minute walks per week over the last year. Although I started this to do with my Mum to lower her blood pressure it has had great impacts on my own health. I thought I was fine doing some light weights (twice a week) and cardio/boxing (twice a week), but it was not until I added the 3 walks on top of this that I noticed the benefit. I have lowered my own blood pressure, felt reduced stress, and my weight stays really stable. A lot of research backs up the cardiovascular and brain benefits, especially for older people but it is something that most of us can do. Another great thing about walking is that it is free to do! Finally, I love reading and spend a lot of time doing it, but I feel a good walk gives my eyes a chance to rest.
We are all on our own journey through life. This blog follows my own personal exploration of topics that come up in coaching sessions.
